Dr. Aaron Mammoser joins the LSU Health New Orleans faculty from the University of Michigan, where he was a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology with subspecialty training in Neuro-Oncology. He treated patients in the Neuro-Oncology Clinic in the Comprehensive Cancer Center. He received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in 1994, his master’s degree from Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2000 and his medical degree from the University at Buffalo in 2005. He completed his Neurology residency at the University of Michigan before completing his fellowship training in Neuro-Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
According to the National Cancer Institute, an estimated 23,770 new cases of brain tumors will be diagnosed this year, with 16,050 deaths. The five-year survival rate of brain tumors is only 33.8%.
The Kelsey Bradley Favrot Chair in Neuro-Oncology at LSU Health New Orleans is a $1 million endowed chair, completed by matching funds awarded by the Louisiana Board of Regents through its Endowed Chairs for Eminent Scholars Program.
